Last Thursday I hosted a ‘Talk Sneakers With Me’ Panel Talk for Nike Sportswear at the Patta ‘On Air’ space and since last Wednesday was international womensday and Girls in Sneakers are awesome we made it an all female panel. With 4 generations of female sneakerheads. We had to upgrade the capacity from 40 to 55 because there were so many sign ups. To those of who came to see the Panel, thank you so much for your support and I hope that you found these girls as interesting as I did. We also did a live stream on IG for the ones who couldn’t be there; Soooo many people watching and all those sweet comments! I was so happy to receive all these positive vibes from you guys. Cause let me tell you; I was SO nervous!

Caroll Lynn – @careaux
Caroll has been in the sneaker scene for 7 years. But has build up quite the reputation in that short period of time! She’s an illustrator, womens footwear designer, a travel enthusiast en such a cute little lady! She was also the only one on the panel struggling with the fact that she couldn’t find the pairs she wanted in her size since shes a size 36. How I know Caroll? We have some of the same friends and the same passion for sneakers so whenever shes in the country we run into eachother quite often.
Merel Ana – @merelana
Merel and I go way back. We’ve been following each other on Instagram ever since I was still @sanipussy (longgg time ago). Merel has been in the sneaker scene for a little over 10 years. She has some serious air max heat, a very dope style, is born & raised in de Bijlmer (Amsterdam) and has a background in track running. Shes also a very talented illustrator! Merel has always felt like one of the guys when she started in this sneaker world. Started from graffiti and sharing her love for sneakers on forums like Lacebag.
Nina Lie-Atjam | @nina_delastigste
The night before the panel we were texting about what pair of air max to wear to the panel. When Nina arrived on Thursday she was wearing a pair of Air Max 1 ‘Amsterdams’ and brought a pair of Hyperstrike AM90 homegrowns as a second option. WELL DAMN.. this girl got heat! She has been in the scene for 20 years and used to be a Rapper to. Very interesting stories and she knows her stuff! Loved meeting her. Fun fact; Merel told me that she was always looking up to Nina when she first started collecting.
Ania Markham |
I think we can consider Ania as being a OG sneakerhead. She has been in the sneaker scene for 30 years already! I mean; she was there when the air max 1 first released back in ’87 #goals! She is half polish/half british, originally from the UK and was part of the legendary Crooked Tongues crew! Shes now living in Amsterdam and working as a film producer, has two kids (who love sneakers to, thank god!). I loved hearing her stories from how she sees the sneaker scene and how everything changed over the years. Her favorite air max are the AM90 and the AM180.
